With a view to launch tōrō nagashi successfully in outer space, we have to discharge the space-tōrō with enough escape velocity. Based on my elementary physical calculation, if the mass of space-tōrō is small enough, an astronaut could hit them to deep space with a baseball swing.
During my residency in ARCUS Project, I got a golden opportunity in interviewing Professor Takuro Osaka. He is teaching in the University of Tsukuba.
When Japanese people join the traditional ceremony, tōrō nagashi, at the night of Bon Fesitval, they normally will write some words on the paper lantern before floating them on the river.
Here are the costumes I am making for my coming emotional experiment. The quality is not that high since I have to finish it in a short period of time.
An artist will join me as an astronaut in my coming emotional experiment. With a view to make him/her feel like hitting on the Moon, I am crafting a baseball bat with a much lighter weight. The gravity on the Moon is one-sixth of the Earth's gravity.
